The Sierra Nevada resort has much to offer but the primary attraction is Skiing. This is the major ski resort in all of Costa Tropical and one of the best in Spain. The Sierra Nevada resort is situated in the Penibetic mountain range deep in the heart of Andalucia. It is the southern-most ski resort in Europe and has some of the highest peaks in the Iberian Peninsula. The Sierra Nevada resort falls under the municipalities of Guejar Sierra, Monachil, and Dilar in Granada. The village in the resort is known as Pradollano and it is situated at an altitude of 2,100m.

Ski Courses at the Sierra Nevada resort

There are different ski courses offered at the Sierra Nevada resort that have been created by both American and European specialists. These courses include skiing over 61kms of snowy slopes that is spread over 39 different types of ski runs including 6 spectacular off-course trails.

With a vertical drop of 1,300m, the Sierra Nevada has snow areas that cater to different types of skiers. So whether you are a beginner or an expert, you can enjoy skiing here. These are the same slopes that were used during the World Alpine Ski Championships in February 1996 in Spain.

Ski Lifts in the Sierra Nevada resort

There has been a new change in the Sierra Nevada resort in Costa Tropical with the introduction of a new chairlift that replaced the previous Montebajo lift. With this new introduction, the carrying capacity of the lifts has increased to 31,965 passengers in an hour. This commendable achievement has been made possible with the help of 19 lifts including 12 chairlifts (4 of them are detachable), 2 gondolas, and 5 ski lifts. The ski lifts are operational for public use from 09.00am to 0430pm everyday although you should always check their schedule especially during bad weather conditions. These lifts also operate on Friday and Saturday evenings for night skiing.

Ski Services in Sierra Nevada resort

One of the major events in the Sierra Nevada resort in Costa Tropical is the investment made on the latest snow-making system. The snow making system is considered to be the largest in the country and can easily compete with some of the best in Europe. This system is able to create snow even if no snowfall takes place and hence the Sierra Nevada resort is guaranteed of skiing slopes.

In a new move, the same system was introduced to the upper regions of the El Zorro ski course. In the last couple of years, there has been an increase in the number of guns with Sierra Nevada Resort having 200 cannons that comprise of 187 high pressure and 13 low pressure units, which can produce almost 1,940 cubic meters of snow every hour.

Night Skiing in Sierra Nevada resort

Night skiing is one of the major attractions of the Sierra Nevada resort and is also one of the most exciting options. Night skiing on the Sierra Nevada resort in Costa Tropical was first introduced in 1994. This was made possible by lighting the entire length and breadth of the El Rio slope (3km/545 vertical drop), which was followed by the Slalom course (1,100m vertical drop).

Do you dream of clear blue waters, with mild wave action and sandy beaches? If you love the sun, sand, and tropics, you might be interested in the U.S. Virgin Islands. You may think that a trip to this exotic and tropical locale is out of your budget but in truth, there are many ways you can visit the Virgin Islands without robbing a bank. It is possible to book a hotel, flight, and vacation package that will allow you to sit on Caribbean shores. The U.S. Virgin Islands consist of St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas. These three are world-renowned destinations with rich history and duty-free shopping. A paradise such as this should not be missed because you fear your budget. Instead, recognize the travel site that will provide you with an all-inclusive package for under $700 per person in top hotels like the Wyndham.

It is a real possibility to find your perfect getaway in the Virgin Islands when you have trips including airfare for $619. If you do not want a package but just the accommodations with meals included, it can be less than $200 per person. With the advent of the Internet, nothing is unattainable anymore. There are too many deals being offered for you to wait to book a U.S. Virgin Islands vacation.

You might wonder what do the Virgin Islands have to offer tourists? Certainly warm weather, sandy beaches, and water sports but what else can be included in your vacation of three to seven nights?

The U.S. Virgin Islands, as mentioned, include St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John. Depending on how long you will stay in the Virgin Islands, you may be able to travel to all three islands or visit only one. St. Croix and St. Thomas are the two most popular islands for tourists, with St. John as a third option. The main thing besides a tropical paradise that the Virgin Islands offer is culture.

The islands have been formed on a myriad of cultures such as the Carib Indians, Arawak, Africans, Britons, Dutch, Spanish, French, and Indians. There are, of course, United States residents on the Islands as well. This mixture of cultures is apparent in almost anything one can do in the Virgin Islands. You will discover a mingling of languages, architecture, and even boutiques. The most modern history of the U.S. Virgin Islands begins with Christopher Columbus who named them on his second voyage in 1493. At this time, some structures were erected but the native Islanders still had control. Over the next 300 years, the islands became a rich resource for the West India Trading Company and sugarcane. Wars did break out which finally left the Islands in U.S. control. Tourists can visit some of the more historical sites, when they take a break from the private beaches and national parks.

Other attractions available on all three islands include kayaking, hiking, ecological tours, scuba diving, sailing, tropical forest tours, and nightlife. One cannot talk about the U.S. Virgin Islands without exploring the underwater world. The waters around the islands are calm, offering crystal-clear views of more than 100 feet. There are days when the water can be a bit brackish, usually after a storm, but on average there are 300 days of great diving. Cave diving, wreck diving, and reef diving are the typical enjoyments. With diving comes snorkeling tours so if you do not wish to include diving lessons as part of your all-inclusive package consider at least a snorkeling trip. Sailing around the islands to find private beaches, picnic areas, and underwater sites is a major boost to the economy. Night cruises often leave port with dinner, sunset, and luxury in mind.

Cuisine in the restaurants will be varied with such a mingling of cultures as described above. International fare such as Indian food, favorite American dishes, and local meals are all available to the adventurous tourist. A plethora of shops and boutiques will greet you almost as soon as you step off a cruise ship or airplane. You might want to ask a few locals where to head for the best souvenirs, as there are your typical souvenir shops and then those that are off the beaten path. Often, it is easier to find deals in the little known shops set up by locals than in the tourist traps. There is more than one way to reach the U.S. Virgin Islands. A plane package is often a great way to see all three islands but you also have major cruise lines that visit the U.S. Virgin Islands’ ports.

Rving in Alaska is not a two week trip, plan for a much longer time because getting there and back is half the fun, enjoying the stops along the way. But if time is an issue then you have several options. Alaska is a large state with a lot to see,So if you are still working or have school age children you can plan a shorter trip and limit the area you cover. A driver-friendly option is a sea-and-land tour via the Inside Passage. You can load your RV on the BC ferries in Seattle, Washington or British Columbia, or you can fly to Alaska and rent an Rv. If you have the time there are many points of interest in the US and Canada on the way. A trip in itself is sightseeing in Glacier National Park, Calgary, Lake Louise, Baniff and the Edmonton Mall before you get to the Alcan Highway.

Be sure to take a side trip to Skagway to ride the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway. Experience the historic 1898 narrow gauge Klondike Gold Rush Railroad with breathtaking terrain, beautiful scenery, cascading waterfalls and sky-high trestles. Then back to Whitehorse and on to Tok, where a decision needs to be made whether to go southwest to Anchorage or north to Fairbanks. We went southwest first to Anchorage (largest city in Alaska) with good RV facilities and a place to rest and get supplies. A good side trip is Valdez, south end of the Alaskan pipeline, Museum of the earthquake, fish hatchery, glaciers and viewing the whales from a party boat. We thought that viewing the glaciers from the boat was spectacular. The glaciers were all around us, we had to go very slow as of the glaciers were hidden under the water.

For people who enjoy fishing, then Seward, Soldotna, Kenai and Homer is a must. For Halibut and King Salmon you must take a charter boat or rent a boat. Then back to Anchorage and north to Denali Park. A bus trip through the park is a must, hope it is a clear day so you can see the top of Mount McKinley. Be sure to visit the World largest coal mine just north of the park.

Then on to Fairbanks, be sure to take the Riverboat cruise to learn about the Eskimos way of living and surviving off the land in the frigid winters. They must catch and cure one salmon per sled dog per day. The salmon season is not that long and just think about cleaning that many salmon for ten or twelve dogs. Also while in Fairbanks visit the factory where they make beautiful bowls from trees.

Then back to Tok for the rugged Top of the World Highway that takes you on to Chicken and Dawson City on your way through the Yukon to Whitehorse. Then you must decide your route home, the eastern route back to Edmonton or the Western route to Prince George then the US of A. There are many State Parks in Canada on lakes with Rving Sites.

An investment well worth the money is the Milepost, a book for your trip to and while you are in Alaska, milepost by milepost starting at Dawson Creek, British Columbia, milepost 0. This book makes rving in Alaska easy. Remember your passport as you will soon need one, so it is best to apply for one now.

Tips on Beating Jet Lag

By Lance Rush

There’s nothing more aggravating than arriving at your destination groggy and red-eyed. Jet lag makes clear thinking difficult, leading to bad decisions at international business meetings, and recreational travelers find it detracts from the enjoyment of their hard-earned and time-limited vacations. Symptoms include fatigue and general tiredness, inability to sleep at night, loss of concentration, headaches, malaise and disorientation. It is caused by the disruption of biological rhythms as a result of rapid transitions across multiple time-zones. Such desynchronization of circadian rhythms also affects employees who transfer to night shifts.

Preflight preparation isone of the most important aspects of combating jet lag. Before leaving, be sure you have all your affairs, personal and professional, in order. Avoid late farewell parties, so that you are not tired or hungover from a function the night before. Participate in regular exercise in the days prior to departure and if possible try to avoid exposure to people with flu or colds. Get a full night of sleep just prior to departure.

There is evidence that jet lag is less acute on eastward rather that westward flights, as it is easier to force oneself to stay up later than normal than it is to fall asleep earlier than normal. Daytime flights cause less jet lag than overnight flights, which is why the latter are called “red-eye” flights. Due to cramped seating and ambient noise, don’t expect to get a good night’s rest on one of these flights.

Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, since the dry air in airplanes causes dehydration. Water is better than coffee, tea and fruit juices. Alcoholic drinks are a poor choice for combating dehydration, and demonstrate a markedly greater intoxicating effect when consumed in the rarefied atmosphere of an airliner compared to ground level.

A blindfold, neckrest or blow-up pillow, and ear plugs can help you get quality sleep while flying. If there are some spare seats on the flight, lay across them, since it easier to fall asleep laying flat than sitting propped up.

Get up and exercise frequently. Walking up and down the aisle, standing for short periods, and doing twisting and stretching exercises in your seat reduces discomfort from swollen legs and feet, and prevents potentially deadly Deep Vein Thrombosis. On long flights, get off the plane if possible at stopovers, and take a short walk around the airport. As far back as 1988 the Lancet report estimated “that over three years at Heathrow Airport, 18% of the 61 sudden deaths in long distance passengers were caused by clots in the lungs.” These clots originate in leg veins where blood pools and coagulates due to passenger immobility.

There are many products purported to prevent or cure jet lag. One of them is melatonin, a hormone produced naturally by the body to produce sleepiness. Another product, No-Jet-Lag, has been proven effective in a scientific trial of round-the-world passengers and confirmed by longhaul flight attendants in a test conducted in cooperation with their union. Since it is a homeopathic preparation using extremely low dosages, No-Jet-Lag has no side effects and is compatible with other medications.

If you plan to use melatonin, it is important to take it at the right time or it may make matters worse. When traveling east, on the day of the flight, take one dose of melatonin between 6 and 7 p.m. your time. On the day of arrival and for the next four days, take a dose of melatonin at bedtime (between 9 and 10 p.m.) local time of your new location. If you are on a stopover and will be traveling further east, take one dose of melatonin on the day before flying onward, again between 6 and 7 p.m. local time, instead of at bedtime). On the day of arrival at the final destination, take one dose of melatonin at bedtime (local time) and for the next four days.

For westward travel, melatonin will not help if you are going less than five time zones to the west. For distant westward travel, on the day of arrival, take one dose of melatonin at local time bedtime and continue to do so for the next four days. If you wake up before 4 a.m., take a little more melatonin (half a dose) to get a complete night’s sleep. Dissolve this dose under the tongue, if possible, so it will be more fast-acting.

Sleeping pills are not advisable, especially on the plane. They produce a drugged state which has little in common with natural sleep, and suppress natural body movement, not desirable in a cramped environment where the risk of DVTs is already high. Many over-the-counter sleeping pills are anti-histamines which tend to dehydrate the mucous membranes, creating a parched, sore throat when combined with the already dehydrating atmosphere inside the airplane.

Hopefully these tips will help you arrive at your destination awake and energetic.

Antwerp is the second largest city of Belgium. The capital city of the province of Antwerp, it is also the second largest harbor in Europe after Rotterdam. It is a leading commercial center famous for cutting, trading and polishing of diamonds. Since the last 15 years, Antwerp has been elevated to the status of being one of the leading cities for fashion design in Europe.

The name ‘Antwerp’ has been linked to the word “aanwerp” (alluvial mound), which was the geographical feature in the early settlement period in this place. The earliest records of fortification for this historical place take us to the seventh century BC. In the 10th century, Antwerp became a provincial border for the Roman Empire. By the 14th century, the city of Antwerp was already ranked as being the prime center in Western Europe for trading and finance, thanks to its flourishing wool market and seaport.

The city went through a low phase economically during the Reformation period and the subsequent conflict between the Catholics and the Protestants. The city rose again in the 17th century with painters like Reubens and Van Dyck becoming famous names. It was Napoleon who realized the strategic importance of Antwerp and undertook the modernization of the Antwerp port. As times passed, Antwerp went on to progress and became what it is today-the tenth largest port in the world.

Places of interest:

The Antwerp’s Grote Markt (town square) is the wonder of the 16th century architecture. The Stadhuis (town hall) is a popular Flemish Gothic structure built in the Renaissance fashion. In the middle of the town square lies a statue of the first hero of Antwerp Brabo. He was the man who had killed a giant, who according to a legend used to control river traffic and extract money from people. From sailing and hiking to surfing and skiing, the city offers a plethora of activities. What’s more is that San Diego is a hop, skip and a jump away from Tijuana-an exciting alternative to California living.

San Diego is comprised of several communities all offering a unique personality. Deemed an official U.S. naval city, San Diego is home to thousands of military personnel. In fact, one third of the U.S. Naval Pacific Fleet is stationed in San Diego Bay. The city’s abundant access to water makes it an ideal location for our country’s seamen. San Diego is a hub for recreational sailors, too.

Seaport Village is home to several luxury yachts as well as a wide variety of charter services. Spend a day at sea whale watching or just kick back and enjoy San Diego’s beautiful coastline.

Head to what is considered North County and pay a visit to the Del Mar Fairgrounds. From mid-July to early September, the fairgrounds are converted into the legendary Del Mar Racetrack. The horseracing venue once served as a stomping ground for some of the world’s most influential entertainers such as Jimmy Durante, Ava Gardner, Pat O’Brien, and of course the legendary Seabiscuit. Another notable, Bing Crosby, not only frequented the track, but founded it in 1937.

Crosby is the voice behind the famous “Where the Turf Meets the Surf” anthem. Opening day draws massive crowds, all adorned in the finest fashions and many participating in the infamous “Big Hat Day” festivities. With plenty of grandstand boxes available, a vast amount of local eateries and private clubs, the Del Mar Racetrack is the place to see-and be-seen.

In the heart of the city you will find Mission Valley-a central haven for some of San Diego’s best shopping. The outdoor Fashion Valley Mall features designer boutiques as well as premiere department store giants including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. Just one exit away is Qualcomm Stadium, home to the San Diego Chargers.

San Diego’s downtown Gaslamp District boasts plenty of boutiques, top-notch restaurants, five-star luxury hotels, and a whole street lined with some of the city’s most popular nightclubs. A newer addition to the downtown area is the state-of-the-art San Diego Padre’s stadium, Petco Park. The Gaslamp District caters to the swarms of tourists by offering activities such as sight-seeing charter buses, pedicabs and horse-drawn carriage rides.

And with the city’s trolley system in place the perils of parking are easily avoided. Luxury hotels in San Diego include the Manchester Grand Hyatt, Hotel Solamar, Horton Grand Hotel, The Omni, The Westin Horton Plaza, The W San Diego, the Hard Rock Hotel, the Westgate Hotel, and more. Take a closer look at luxury hotels in San Diego.

Experience California’s history while strolling through Old Town San Diego. As the first European settlement in what is now California, Old Town has been dubbed the state’s birthplace. The cultural landmark- home to the first California mission showcases Spanish history through its Bazaar del Mundo. Another popular attraction is the oh-so-creepy Whaley house, which offers insight into what some people call Haunted San Diego.

When people think of San Diego the thought of bikini-clad beaches is often what first enters their heads. San Diego has earned this reputation for good reason as its coastline offers some of California’s best natural beaches. There are plenty of beach communities that seem to cater to every stereotype out there.

First off, there is the overcrowded (but fabulous) Pacific Beach, which offers party-goers a wide variety of hotspots all within walking distance from each other. Travel a little south and you will hit Mission Beach, which offers all the perks of P.B. with the added luxury of Belmont Park. Keep heading south and you will end up in Ocean Beach, a small community filled with vintage shops, dive bars, and some wonderful undiscovered little cafes and restaurants.

San Diego Bay is yet another popular destination, known mainly for its ample water-sports.

And with neighboring mountain ranges in close proximity, San Diego is ideal for avid skiers and snowboarders alike. The kiddos will enjoy the famous San Diego Zoo, Wildlife Park, and Legoland. And adults will find a playground of their own as the county also offers several Indian gaming sites, casinos and luxury resorts.

With so many well-traveled attractions and tourist destinations, San Diego has experienced rapid growth. This means that those looking for investment opportunities will find a surplus of resources in its flourishing market. Some of San Diego’s most prime real estate is located in the coastal community of La Jolla, as well as in the high-rising downtown condominiums and lofts.

When you are travel bound, you wish everything- from preparing the trip itself, to proceed the right way and without any hassles. This is the reason why there is a growing popularity in making all of your bookings through the internet, including hotel bookings. It is no wonder then that online hotel reservation has grown highly popular amongst the internet enthusiast people all over the world.

To meet the growing demand for online hotel reservation, some highly reliable websites have emerged to cater to each type of accommodation demands. These internet sites enable you easily to book your hotel tickets online for any primary city, or even for regional locations.

The crucial factor then is to find a secure and reliable website, which you can book all your hotel rooms from, in the course of your journeys. There are several distinctive hallmarks of a great online hotel reservation website that you must keep in mind when picking out your reservation requirement.

To start out, the website must be safe and secure. All your personal particulars, to include your credit card info, must be safe with the website. It is important that you are assured at this point before you proceed any further.

Ideally, the bigger the website is, the better choices and treats it can provide. This implies, the websites need to have a very wide reach across thousands of cities and towns across many different countries in the world. The greater its network of hotels, the better options you will be able to get. But more importantly, a big website will also be able to offer you great treats and discounts at the hotels it is tied up with. This transforms into savings which may even allow you to stay in a more luxurious hotel room.

The website should respond to all type of budgets. If you are searching for a swift budget trip, you must be able to locate cheap, affordable rooms just as quickly as you should be able to locate luxury 7 star suites in any particular location. Whether you wish to stay in modest home cottages, service apartment or a luxury room, you must be able to locate them on the website.

A good online hotel reservation website will not charge its customers any payments for making reservations or even for cancelling their reservations. They get their fees from the hotels you book your accommodation and they also opt not to impose a charge on their customers for assisting them with finding their perfect hotel room. Also, a sound online hotel reservation website will have a 24/7 customer support capable of speaking multiple languages to help their customers with any type of difficulty along the way.

One of the best ways to judge an online hotel reservation website is to check out the critiques and feedbacks of customers who have actually used their services. This will show you a good impression of how good, streamlined and reliable the website is in hotel bookings.

Buying vs. Leasing an Auto

By Isaac Small

Leasing a luxury car imposes lower costs, generally comparable to the interest rate of financing a loan. However, if you terminate a lease early or default on a monthly lease payment, you can face major financial penalties and ruin your credit rating. The decision of whether to buy or lease a vehicle also depends on your unique lifestyle. If you drive many miles each year and don’t mind paying repair bills, you probably should purchase your car. If, on the other hand, you exceed the mileage limitation or if the car shows considerable wear and tear at the end of the lease, you may find yourself paying large end-of-lease costs.

When you are thinking about getting a new car, one question always comes up: is it better to buy or lease? There is, of course, no one single answer. Each choice has benefits and disadvantages, so the choice depends on your own particular personal and financial circumstances.

A key issue is affordability. Is your job situation stable? Are you in overall good financial shape? The short-term monthly expense associated with leasing a car is much lower than the monthly payments required when purchasing a vehicle. With leasing, you pay only for the part of the vehicle’s cost used during the period of time you drive it. If you have the cash on hand, and you can pay the down payment and sales taxes - either in cash or via a loan - as well as the interest rate buying a car gives you that feeling of ownership and may be the best financial option.

If you want to get your hands on a luxury car, but you can’t afford the initial costs associated with buying one, leasing is your best option. Leasing a luxury car imposes lower costs, generally comparable to the interest rate of financing a loan. However, if you terminate a lease early or default on a monthly lease payment, you could face major financial penalties and this could ruin your credit rating. Before you decide to lease, make sure you adjust your budget for the monthly lease payment for the duration of the contract.

The decision of whether to buy or lease a vehicle also depends on your unique lifestyle. What does it mean to you to own a car? Do you bond with your car, or do you like having something new? If you plan to drive a vehicle for more than five years, buying it - through careful negotiations - is probably your best bet. On the other hand, if you would rather drive a new car every two or three years, leasing is for you.

You should also consider your actual transportation needs. Think about how many miles per year you drive and how you handle car maintenance. If you drive many miles each year and don’t mind paying repair bills, you probably should purchase your car. With leasing, contracts are made with assumptions of limited mileage, typically between 12,000 to 15,000 miles driven per year, as well as considerations of wear-and-tear on the vehicle. If you can stay within the stated mileage limits and keep the automobile in good condition throughout the duration of your lease, leasing is a reasonable option. However, if you exceed the mileage limitation or if the car shows considerable wear and tear at the end of the lease, you may find yourself paying large end-of-lease costs.

Ten years ago, you’d have probably visited your local travel agent and trusted the face-to-face advice you were given by the so called ‘experts’. The 21st Century way to select and book your hotel is of course on the Internet, by using travel websites.

But how do you sift through the amazing choices on offer? And more importantly, do you really trust the photographs and descriptions of the hotels that they have awarded themselves with the motivation of getting bookings?

Traveler reviews can be helpful, but you need to exercise caution. They are often biased, sometimes out of date, and may not serve your interests at all. How do you know that the features that are important to the reviewer are important to you? Then there’s the problem of the reviewer’s motivation. The more reviews you read, the more you notice how they tend to cluster at the extremes of opinion. On one end, you have angry reviewers with axes to grind; at the other, you have delighted guests who lavish praise beyond belief.

You’ll not be surprised to learn that hotels sometimes post their own glowing reviews, or that competitor’s line up for the chance to lambaste the competition with bad reviews. It makes sense to consider what is really important to you when selecting a hotel. You should then choose an online hotel directory that gives up-to-date, independent, impartial information that really matters.

Here are some of the key facts you should bear in mind:

1. Location: if it matters that your hotel is, for example, on the beach, close to the theme park, or convenient for the airport, then location is paramount. Any decent directory should offer a location map of the hotel and its surroundings. There should be distance charts to the airport offered as well as some form of interactive map.

2. Style: it is important to choose a hotel that makes you feel comfortable - contemporary or traditional furnishings, local decor or international, formal or relaxed. The ideal hotel directory should let you know of the options available.

3. Restaurants, Cafes and Bars: local color is great but the hotel’s own restaurants and bars can play an important part in your stay. You should be aware of choice, style and whether or not they are smart or informal. A good hotel report should tell you this, and particularly about breakfast facilities.

4. Bedroom Facilities: you should always carefully consider the type of facilities you need from your bedroom and find the hotel that has those you consider important. The hotel directory website should elaborate on matters such as: bed size, Internet Access (its cost, whether there is WIFI or wired broadband connection), Complimentary amenities, views from the room and luxury offerings like a Pillow menu or Bath menu, choice of smoking or non smoking rooms etc.

These things really do matter and any decent hotel directory should give you this sort of advice on bedrooms - not just the number of rooms which is the usual option!

5. Children’s’ Facilities: more important to the family traveler than the business traveler, you should find out just how child friendly the hotel is from the directory and make your decision from there. One thing worth looking for is whether the hotel offers a baby sitters service. For the business traveler wishing to escape children this is of course very relevant too - perhaps a hotel that is not child friendly would be something more appropriate!

6. Leisure Facilities: the site should offer a detailed analysis of leisure services within the hotel - spa, pool, gym, sauna - as well as details of any other facilities nearby such as golf courses.

7. Special Needs: the hotel directory site should advise the visitor of each hotel’s special needs services and accessibility policy. Whilst again this does not apply to every visitor, it is absolutely vital to some.

Finally and most importantly, the quality hotel directory inspection team should have visited the hotel in question on a regular basis, met the staff, slept in a bedroom and tried the food. They should experience the hotel as only a hotel guest can and it is only then that they are really in a strong position to write about the hotel.

Tips on Buying Bushings

By Isaac Small

Bushings are either permanent or detachable metal sleeves that are used primarily to reduce friction. Since the early 90s, different chemistries of the dry bulb bushings with bronze layers have been commonly used. This technology offers accuracy and concentricity that is not available with other types of bushings. Today, many types of Bushings are manufactured. There are control arm bushings, anti-sway bar bushings, and spring bushings. And each one has distinctive feature and has its own upsides and as well as downsides.

1. Materials

New technologies, however, are fast developing. Soon, a combination of materials will be pooled to create fully developed and industrialized types of Bushings. Car manufacturers and spare parts companies sell different types of Bushings. It is proper to know the exact specifications as well as the key features of each type to be able to achieve desired quality. There are many aspects to consider in bushing the best types of automobile bushings. Some Bushings are made of polyurethane while some are made of rubber or bronze. Some are not advised for street use while some are recommended for off-road travels and vehicles.

2. Brushings

These specs should be considered and thought of. Choose bushings that would cause better weight distribution as well as lofty speed stability, that in return, reduce the push of the car. In addition, prefer those that produce significantly superior steering control and reaction particularly of huge tire and wheel parcels. Package the type of Bushings that domesticates differential movement in times of tough accelerations and that that permits enhanced power distribution. And it is better to pick the ones that have superior tribological potentials that would simply extend the deterioration life of these. Polyurethane Bushings allow suspensions to toil optimistically.

3. Control And Grip

From the name itself, it is primarily made from polyurethane that is characterized as a specific material that offer flexibility of rubber with the rigidity of the metal. Apart from natural rubber materials, polyurethane provides exceptional strength as well as resistance to strong impacts, grease and fuels. They are also known and proven to do better than the usual rubber type of bushings. These types of bushings are flexible enough. Whether you would go on for a soft trip or even go for challenging off-road ride. These are firm enough to adopt to even the toughest conditions. These poly bushings make a remarkable enhancement to your vehicle’s control and grip.

4. Handling

Handling is enhanced and you will be able to sustain appropriate alignment all the way through your travel. Aside from that, polyurethane Bushings are resistant to oils and other petroleum goods. Moreover, it will not perish or depreciate from drastic weather and temperature changes. Truly, poly Bushings are specific improvement compared with the ones made of rubber. Moreover, they are often said to be the best off-road Bushings commercially available in the market. Some of them are mixed together to provide additional mechanical properties.

5. Suspension

This allows good suspension feel while driving your off-road vehicle. It is also recommended because of their durability and flexibility even at extreme conditions. In totality, polyurethane bushings will save you time as well as replacement fees. Additionally, these are considered good rubber alternates and are obtainable to provide an array of functions. Furthermore, poly Bushings are not that expensive. The essential variation in price makes it popular. The cost alone is the cause why many people prefer buying these instead of those costly rubber Bushings. Likewise, others prefer it because it degrades much slower compared to those made of rubber. While others say that they bought it because of its toughness and flexibility. However, there are some aspects that compare rubber from poly.

6. Installation

Most of the time, consumers would complain and grumble on how awfully squeaky it can be when lubrication is not exercised properly. On this case, it is advised that rub your poly spring bushings with sand papers before installing it. There are some sets of these types that contains silicone type of grease that does not evaporate at all. The poly bushings will not screech when you coat your bushings with these kind of grease and rubbing them to coarse sand paper. Nevertheless, the grease may wear off when exposed or run through a heavy mud.

Its airport is situated on the coast amongst mountains and therefore the airport runway which is made on land that was pushed up from the ocean in the 15th century after an earthquake is just too short to land giant aircraft.

You will immediately notice that Aucklanders are a cheerful, simple go luck, friendly bunch. Like most major cities across the world it has great hotels excellent dinning, a casino, tours to the nearby islands, whale watching, extinct volcano’s, a volcanic island like White Island, looking and fishing and simply concerning something adventurous, or of scenic beauty. There are a number of luxury 5 Star hotels in Auckland like The Hilton that is on the waterfront. Sky City Grand Hotel and Casino in downtown Auckland.
The Living Seas at Disneyworld’s Epcot Center is home to a marine tank that measures over 200 feet in diameter and 25 feet in depth. This tank contains a sample of Caribbean marine life in an artificial salt water and reef environment. Through the center’s Divequest tour, certified divers can take a special three hour program that includes a forty minute dive in this marine tank.

The current price is $140 US with advance reservations required. Divers meet at the Guest Relations office just outside the main Epcot gates. Epcot park admission is not required or included. However, I was let out in the main area of The Living Seas after the tour so I ended up seeing other parts of Epcot for free anyway. Twice per day at 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm, a maximum of twelve divers per time slot are taken on a behind the scenes tour of the facilities at The Living Seas. All scuba equipment is provided. In fact, divers are not allowed to bring their own equipment for the fear of contaminating the marine tank. Even jewelry must be removed prior to the dive. Scuba wetsuits (shorties), BCs, regulators, fins, booties and masks are provided. Divers are allowed to bring and use their own masks and bathing suits but these are the only exceptions to the rule.

After the facility tour, wetsuits and towels for each diver are already waiting in private stalls that include private showers in the change rooms. The setup is well organized but a bit odd because after changing into wetsuits, the divers are paraded through the public areas where the other Epcot guests are before going into the main level of the marine tank. Once at the marine tank, divemasters are waiting with tanks and BCs already assembled for each diver. The BCs are weight integrated with more weight than needed and the only gauge attached is an air pressure gauge. There isn’t even a depth gauge or octopus second stage as they are not considered necessary for this shallow dive. After the dive briefing, the divemasters help the divers with their equipment on and everyone moves to a descent line at the middle of the tank.

The dive itself is usually beyond most divers’ expectations. There is a lot of marine life in this tank including sharks, rays, turtles and lots of Caribbean fish of all sizes. In fact, the staff claims that divers will see more variety of Caribbean marine life during this one dive than many dives combined out in the open sea. One of the neat things that divers can do on this dive that they can’t do elsewhere is interact with the public Epcot guests. There are sixty observation windows all around the marine tank including views from the main restaurant. The divers become part of the attractions at The Living Seas as the public behind the windows wave and snap photos. Some divers made arrangements with family members to be on the other side of the windows while a designated divemaster videotapes the entire scene. Even though I was skeptical at first, I have to admit that I had fun interacting with the public behind the glass. I had forgotten that the vast majority of people out there are not certified divers and we are somewhat of a curiosity for them.

For scuba divers who dive mainly to see marine life, the Divequest at Epcot will not disappoint. It’s an opportunity to swim through a few large schools of fish and see some creatures like the sharks and turtles up close which as most divers know, is a real hit and miss out in the open water. It is also a very unique opportunity for non-diving family members and friends to see divers in the underwater environment. Divequest is certainly a special dive that is worth doing at least once.

Aviemore is based in the highlands of Scotland, with impressive mountain views, and surrounded by country-side it stands 26,000 feet above rural farmland. The area is renowned for skiing, having recently had 2 European Level Competitions on its snowy peaks in the last two months. The ski resorts success, with professional skiing has also lead to success with tourists, having 12,000 people hitting the slopes each month. These massive numbers are also attributed to snowboarding, with boarding specific slaloms on one side of the mountains.

Aviemore recently commissioned a $4 Million state of the art ski lift that can travel up to 25 miles per hour, withstand winds in excess of 110 miles per hour, and has a total weight of 450 tonnes. The amazing structure travels over 15 miles and is certainly an amazing sight for any avid skier. Aviemore’s tourist based facilities are also highly impressive with 900 square feet, and a verging patio area that looks down the 26,000 feet mountain face.

Aviemore is an unfortunate to only have snow for 7 months in the year, ruling it out of hosting some of the worlds greatest competitions, and really placing Scotland up their with France, Switzerland and now Bulgaria as one the top skiing destinations around the world. The skiing destination has recently hosted the snowboarding world freestyle championships, where the facility had to compete with many countries where the sport has far greater uptake than in Scotland. Scotland’s success would have came as a result of many factors, however it was said that the accommodation facilities were said to be significantly more robust than other countries that had placed similar bids.

With a thriving economy that survives largely of the tourism industry, Aviemore had the facilities to bed over 10,000 people a night, significantly higher than any other bid. The reasons for this was largely down to its proximity to a local town that was also able to provide bed and breakfast accommodation, which ensured that more tickets could be sold, and exposure maximised. Despite this, only 21% of ticket buyers were Scottish, leaving the rest of the 79% to fly in from around the world.

The success of the tournament has lead to speculation of Aviemore building on its initial success to host more tournaments in the coming years, and with this the value of property has risen and the hotel industry is also becoming savvy to the prospect of high demand in the area. The Aviemore mountains have an average gradient that well exceeds most skiing locations in the west of Europe making Aviemore the place to visit for a European Skiing trip, providing the time of year is correct.

With only 7 months snow, Aviemore is considering a contained facility, where it will continue to provide skiing and snowboarding indoors. The thought of this, also would raise ideas and suggestions as to how they intend to go about this, and on what scale? Would they be looking to compete with the indoor facilities in Berlin, or would they be looking for something basic? The fact is, speculation as to a large scale indoor facility is mounting, and this is certainly something that would benefit the hotel industry in the area that is growing rapidly, however experiences a less-busy spell for 5 months in the year where Aviemore is in no condition to allow snowboarders or skiers to hit the slopes. Despite this freestyle snowboarding still continues, where the snow is artificially maintained in a half-pipe with which the snowboarders can practice and perfect tricks in a similar way to skateboarders.

If you have never been to Aviemore then I recommend you visit, whether or not you are a skier. The fact is, the views are amazing, the fresh clear air is refreshing and the people are fantastic. If you have never skied before, then what better place to learn than Aviemore.

Traveling calls for people of all sorts to safe keep their travel papers to prevent misplacing these items. Travel documents should never be left unguarded for obtaining new sets of these would require much time and effort. This article will be tackling travel advice on how to protect important travel documents for all situations.

There have been events leading to the increased difficulty for when people obtain travel documents and an example would be 9/11. Travelers can encounter problems with passports and passes by not being able to fit these inside their wallets and at the same time having the unpleasant task of carrying them. Travelers can be assisted by travel advice especially for events when thievery is a major concern.

Travel advice tells how documents can generate huge profits for thieves causing a theft alarm for these since travel documents like any other legal personal documents for that matter can sell at very high amounts when sold in black markets. There are ways that can fit any travel plan for the guarding of travel documents for any traveler and a traveler of all sorts should take advantage of having these options that he or she can decide from. A traveler has different storage options to decide among for any particular trip so he or she needs to be familiar with the details of the trip.

Travel advice for the home is keeping the documents guarded but not so as the traveler himself or herself is unable to reach them. Additional security for fireproof safes can be attained by simply bolting these to a solid floor. It is a known fact that many safes have been stolen by thieves and destroyed later on when home free.

At a hotel, the travel advice would be to keep the documents right away in the hotel room safe or have them deposited at a safety deposit box by the front desk. Staff members can come and go so it is of much consideration for travelers to place documents ion the in room safes. Bringing documents is crucial for any traveler may it be for a short period of time that he or she is out of the hotel.

A youth hostel on the other hand may require travelers to share rooms with roommates so the travel advice here is to simply use a reliable safety lock on the luggage. Some hostels have lockers for patrons but personal locks should still be used even for these. Some travelers want added safety for their documents and luggage and so they chain the bags to the bed.

Travel advice for when going out is simply to keep travel document protected with neck wallets or bags that can be placed underneath clothes. There are different choices that a traveler can decide among for when he or she chooses a travel pouch to use. Thieves have easy access to documents if a traveler uses fanny packs or backpacks for that matter.

Alternatives include online storage systems for travel documents and other pertinent papers. In general, an online storage facility for important documents such as those used for traveling can provide people with an enhanced degree of security for their documents but there is still a risk of hackers. Using these websites is good travel advice since these make use of legal copies of actual documents that can be used conveniently for purposes such as traveling and the like.

A lot of secure options are available to travelers for the protection of their travel documents and this is in order to be able to have various options that can cater to any possible form of traveling plan that people may have. Travel advice tells of which methods works perfectly for any kind of travel plan and again people have the responsibility of choosing among a wide variety of possible options for this kind of travel safety suggestion. People need to know how to secure travel documents and other documents for that matter and they can get help to do so and this is I considering that they do want help on the matter since every decision is ultimately up to the traveler concerned.

Home to almost 8 million people, the San Francisco Bay Area provides the only real break in the coastal mountains of California making it one of the most ideal spot for living within the state. It is divided into 6 sub-regions (North Bay, San Francisco, East Bay, Peninsula, South Bay, and Santa Cruz) and composed of 10 counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma).

North Bay is a sub-region north of the Golden Gate Bridge, is separated by water from the rest of the Bay Area. It has numerous affluent communities and is probably the least urbanized among the 6 sub-regions. North Bay has many undeveloped parks, farmlands, and plantations. One popular location is Napa Valley, which is well-known for the world class red wines produced from its vineyards.

The City and County of San Francisco was once the largest city, in terms of population in the whole Bay Area. Although it no longer holds that distinction, it remains as the traditional, cultural, financial, and urban center of the region. The most famous landmark in this area is the Golden Gate Bridge, which spans the Golden Gate Strait, a water passage connecting San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The bridge connects the city/county of San Francisco with Marin County in the North Bay.

The East Bay area is split into 2 regions, the Inner East Bay and the Outer East Bay. Inner East Bay, located along the bay’s coastline, is more urban, densely populated, and has a more ethnically diverse population. Old buildings in the area suggest that it is one of the oldest developed regions. Outer East Bay, on the other hand, is composed of inland valleys separated from the Inner East Bay by hills and mountains. Its development dates back to less than 60 years ago and is mostly suburban to rural.

San Francisco Peninsula (or simply Peninsula) is the area between East Bay and San Francisco. It is composed of a series of towns, small cities, and suburban communities along San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

South Bay is the sub-region where the past blends well with the present and the future. The past is typically characterized by the city of San Jose, the oldest city in California, while the present and the future could be gleaned from the products churned by Silicon Valley. In 1990, San Jose became the most populated city in the area.

Santa Cruz, although regarded by most as part of Monterey Bay Area, some agencies and records show it as a part of San Francisco Bay Area. It is sprawled along San Francisco Peninsula, Santa Cruz Mountains, and Monterey Bay.

With tourism being the region’s leading industry, the Bay Area is teeming with tourist destinations and historic landmarks. It is one of the wealthiest regions in the United States. Of the 280 metropolitan areas nationwide, the Bay Area has the highest median household income with $62,024. Six of the top ten places in California with the highest per capita income could also be found in the Bay Area. These figures are a testament of the boundless opportunities available for the citizens residing in the region.

With its idyllic setting and mild climate, living in the Bay Area is an investment that you can never be wrong about.

Who isn’t in awe of this bountiful tapestry of red, gold, and orange leaves that adorn deciduous trees in neighborhoods, parks, and mountains from coast to coast? With an azure sky as a backdrop the colors are all the more magnified, your viewing pleasure increased. In the middle of all of this lurks a menace, one that can be both destructive and deadly. Please read on to discover the inherent dangers of the autumn season and what you must do to protect yourself and your property.

Anne Bridgeton was accustomed to taking her ‘99 Camry on weekday excursions from her home in the Kentucky foothills to her job some thirty miles away. By traveling along narrow, twisting back roads and avoiding the interstate, Anne’s trip took an additional fifteen minutes each way but it was a small price to pay as one of the benefits included viewing a bucolic landscape replete with farms and forested areas, and pocketed by small stores. Somehow the sterile scenery of the interstate was more unnerving than calming, even unsettling at times. Besides, no tandem trailers took the Kentucky backgrounds unlike the interstate which was full of them. Staying out of their way was the chief reason Anne avoided the interstate.

This past October all of that changed for Anne and dramatically so. It had been a dry summer and autumn seemed to have arrived earlier than usual as the leaves changed and fell well before the month ended. In some sections along the back roads, particularly in more residential areas, leaves were piled up alongside the curb for removal by the local sanitation crews. It reminded Anne of the snowdrifts that she would soon see all winter long on her way back and forth to work.

When the phone rang, Anne assumed that it was someone at her place of work calling to ask her if she would stop by at a local farm and pick up cider and donuts. Several times during the year Anne would visit a nearby farm and pick up a treat for her office staff. As it turned out it was her mother calling to remind Anne that today was her younger sister’s birthday.

Pulling off to the side of the road, Anne turned on her emergency flashers, shut off the engine, and engaged her mother in conversation. Not three minutes went by when Anne noticed a plume of smoke rising up outside of the front passenger window. Alarmed, she cut off conversation with her mother, exited her Camry to investigate and soon saw flames shooting up from the ground. As she dialed 911 the Camry was quickly engulfed in an inferno and within moments it was destroyed. Fortunately for Anne she was unhurt — deeply shaken — but alive.

What happened to Anne occurs all too frequently to drivers who park their vehicles directly over leaves. Anne’s catalytic converter was the culprit and as with so many newer cars it can heat up to temperatures well over 1500 degrees. When Anne stopped her Camry right on top of the leaves, sparks from the Camry’s catalytic converter dropped down, the leaves caught fire, and her car was engulfed within minutes. Fortunately, Anne escaped with her life but her Camry was destroyed.

Take care to make sure that the season’s beauty does not lull you into forgetting potential hazards. Keep your vehicle far from leaves and only park on surfaces that are completely clear of all debris. Hundreds of fires each year are ignited by catalytic converters; remain vigilant and don’t fall prey to this deadly peril.

Securing Your Belongings When Travelling

By Luther Oneill

For many, one of the worst things that can happen while traveling is having your belongings lost or stolen. Trying to maintain a security-conscious mindset is one of the most effective ways to minimize potential risks. Following some common steps, and training yourself to carry them out instinctively will help keep your travels free of the expense and hassle of replacing missing items.

First and foremost, your belongings are only as secure as you are willing to keep them. If you are careless, or don’t follow all the reasonable steps you should, a certain amount of risk creeps in. Nothing you can do will 100% guarantee any item is secure. Keep this in mind when packing for the trip. Consider whether you can afford to lose any item you pack, both financially and emotionally. Think about what can easily be bought at your destination so that you can leave more behind. Before you leave, look into an appropriate amount of insurance. If you are traveling to a foreign country, especially one that is known for pickpockets and theft, get as much insurance as you can afford. It is worth the relief when something goes wrong. Make several copies of anything that has information on it, like a passport or a vaccination certificate. Leave a copy at home and distribute several copies amongst your luggage.

During your travels you need to constantly be aware of yourself and your possessions. Don’t let your bags go out of sight unless it is absolutely unavoidable. Try and minimize the time you spend physically carrying your luggage around with you. If you are encumbered with a heavy suitcase, you are less likely to give pursuit if someone snatches your wallet or purse, so make sure these items are very close to you and, if possible, hidden out of sight. Make sure you always check any seats you have used for anything you may have dropped or forgotten. Though this advice sounds obvious, maintaining an automatic awareness of your personal security is something that has to be practiced over time until it becomes almost subconscious.

You are at your most vulnerable when out in crowded places. Sizeable amounts of money, passports, or any other valuables should be kept underneath your clothing in a money belt or some other zippered pouch that isn’t your main pocket. Any money you think you’ll need during the day should be kept in a separate front pocket. You can top this up in private places to hide your money belt from view. If you are going to be carrying any bags with you, try and ’slashproof’ them by running wire or mesh through the places that would likely be cut. Additionally, the less you show off in public the less likely you are to be a target, so keep electronics, expensive-looking bags, and bulky items hidden as much as possible. Consider getting a scuffed-up rucksack specifically for city travel. Remember, anything that makes you stand out as a tourist marks you as a target for thieves.

Practice these steps in the weeks leading up to your trip so that they become more automatic. As always, good preparation and good advice are the cornerstones to any enjoyable travel experience. There are many more extensive guides on security and safety abroad on the web, and more information can be obtained from the tourist board of your destination.

Making the decision to emigrate is a huge step in itself but the intricate procedure of applying for an Australian residency visa makes it much more nerve-racking. How then does the points system work?

The Australian point system was launched by the Department of Immigration to make the processing of the many thousands of residency visa applications more manageable and to ensure that the structure is as fair to one and all as possible. Certainly one of the most popular visa categories is the skilled migration visa which awards candidates by means of points for different aspects including their work experience and qualifications. Needless to say it furthermore considers additional issues such as whether the applicant has relations already inside Australia that can agree to sponsor him, which area of Australia he will settle in, his age and English language competence.

All of these differing requirements are given a varying quantity of points therefore a good degree of investigation is usually recommended to make sure that an individual can get sufficient points to allow the application to be accepted. At this time there’s not a given number of points that need to be reached. All of it depends upon exactly which visa is applied for however the pass mark is in the 110 to 120 range.

Briefly, the Australian point system of visa allocation can be a minefield for the unsuspecting however by means of a bit of research is usually easily understood. The services of a registered migration agent can be very valuable and although they may charge you a fee, you will benefit greatly asa result of their considerable experience in helping you find and submit an application for the right visa for your circumstances.
